If your still getting popip's, chances are you are infected with spyware and virus. No matter what sercurity program, you use, something is going to slip in undetected. Which is why it is a good idea, along with having a virus protection. Is to have a few good spyware programs, two should be good. Different ones, will pick up an ifection, which the other was unable to detect.
Also don't forget to do your weekly diskclean up, which is found by clicking start, all programs, accessories, system tools. Along with diskclean up, make sure at least a month to run the system defrag.
Also another nice tool is msconfig, click start, run type msconfig, select the start up tab. Everything listed that has a check mark, are programs that are always running in the background. Some of which you do not need to run all the time. To find out if it is a needed to run all the time go to this site and look it up.

you do NOT have the right software in place
if you did you would not get pop ups and you system would not be slow
you are infected
do NOT use Internet Explorer
get the following, all are free for a safe surfing experience,
install in SAFE mode with networking ( hit F-8 at boot time ), run them all in SAFE mode
with networking as you'll need it for the updates all the programs below will need.
ANTI VIRAL
AVG (free) http://free.grisoft.com/
FIREWALL
ZoneAlarm http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
WEB BROWSER - http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox
EMAIL use thunderbird. It has a good built in spam filter and learns when you teach it. http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird
SPYWARE
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
and if you have a wireless router follow these tips,
1. Use WPA encryption (WPA-PSK) it's less crackable then WEP.
2. Make a passphrase that is upper & lower case and has some numbers thrown in there as well, again harder to crack.
some like mAkE1t5eCurE0rel53 and as long as possible.
3. Use MAC access control so only you or authorized PC's can connect (even if you do have encryption turned on)
4. Turn off DHCP use static addresses.
5. Turn off SSID (and change it) unless your card really needs it (some do)
6. Change username/password of access unit front end
7. Ensure you have the usual firewall enabled on your PC.
8. Paranoia rules, turn WLAN off if your not using it :)
one last tip
control panel---administrator tools--services--messenger
right clik on it
stop the service
then disable it
save changes

Don't know if you have been doing the regular maint. on it so here is what should be done at least once a month maybe more depending of the use.
Clean disk-chkdsk (error-check)-De frag- should have at least 2 spyware programs do a scan with them (spybot and adware SE) they are free and good. Also get spywareblaster it will prevent spyware from even getting on your computer. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html Do a virus scan with your virus program make sure all your spyware and virus software has been updated. Download and run a program to check what is on your startup conf and get rid of those not needed. http://www.windowsstartup.com/

2 things...
You probably acquired "Spyware"...little programs that autmatically load onto your computer and send trend info back to it's source. These don't show up as viruses....
Keyware spyware...find some free software and run it! First time I did it...there were 23 programs found!!! My computer sped up considerably after killing them.
Second possibility is that you need to "Defragment" you computer. Programs -> Accessories->Sytem Tools-> DEFRAG.
Takes a liitle time, but you should do it every couple months...in fact I'm going to go do mine now!!
See ya! Let me know how it goes!

It is always wise to slow down over tracks and potholes. It doesn't matter how good your shocks are. You can mess up your cars alignment or get a flat tire if you are driving fast enough and hit a deep pothole.

If you are getting pop-ups, then your computer is not 100% malware clean. Do all of these freebies:
1. Scan for virus and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender
http://www.bitdefender.com/site/home/
2. Scan for trojans and remove (free online scan) with Ewido
http://www.ewido.net/en/
3. Scan for ad/spyware and remove (free download) with Spybot Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html
Good luck!

Have you tried to defrag and disc clean.
go to START
click on PROGRAMMES
click on ACCESSORIES
click on SYSTEM TOOLS
click on DISC DEFRAGMENTOR
then accept programme, it basically clears files that you never use and cleans your computer safely
