Ive been to Morocco i few times and ppl their eat out of one big plate at the table with their hands. It is polite to sit down and drink tea when they ask. Dont talk about religion or politics.

I find the anwers on here totally strange. What kind of families have you people been sitting down to eat with? If all these things were so, there would be no joy in sitting down to eat. These are just generalisations. As in every culture people do what is suited to them. Some may make it practice to sit on the floor, others wait for the head of the household, Arab or non-arab, & on & on. I have very good friends who are Arab, I eat at their homes from time to time, and I have the most fun time. Very care-free & comfortable, laughing, talking none of this stuffy, restricted way described by some. If anything they try to stuff you so full of food, you don't know if you're coming or going. Have no expectations, go with an open mind and an empty stomach. Have fun.

Just wait for everyone to sit down to the table and wait for the father or the head of the table to eat first then eat, if there are utensils, you can use them, if not only eat with your right hand.
But other than that everything else should be the same, no elbows on the table, please and thank you's etc. Also if they are muslim dont wear clothing that is revealing. And keep the conversation clean and dont make silly rude jokes that you will only regret later (all parents i dont think like rude jokes), and just be neat and polite, oh and wash your hands before you eat and after

Yes I think they are just like anyone else. Don't put your elbows on the table unless you see everyone doing it. Don't bring up politics about Osama bin laden or their country. If they talk about it then just play it by ear. But I think if you would follow your own families rules of eating at the table you will be fine.

My brother in law is from Iraq and we eat at their house alot. it is rude to cup under your mouth (as in to avoid spilled food). Everyone eats out of one bowl. Don't use your left hand. You'll sit on the floor. So dig in and enjoy.

The only one I know of is not to offer food with your left hand, because it is the hand used for wiping yourself after you defecate.
