I don't have a lot of money but I still think I should give more to charity than I do. How do you feel about charities?

I feel you can go on forever throwing money at different charities, and still feel as if you are not giving enough. If you are able, why not give a little time. Practical help, if it is voluntary, is priceless. You usually get training in the areas in which you work, and this could set you up on a new career!

Good topic. I've thought about this a lot. Lets say during a period of time I have no money to give but I want to give. So I look for a place where love is needed and I find away to meet that need. If a person gives an aspirin, a band aid, a cup of water, or a cold washcloth, kindness, directions. There are numerous ways to give every day. It is love the world needs. I would say prayer leads to loving acts and these two things come before the giving of money. Money should be given in love as lead by the Lord and not men.

Many people use the Tithing model found in the Bible. This means giving 10% of your earnings to charity. A Yahoo search on the subject will give you a lot of detail.

I don't mind chucking change into a box etc but I loathe those people that hang around in the streets trying to get you to donate money and they want your bank details too.

I feel bad saying 'no' but I draw the line at money coming out of my account, the only direct debit I have is my phone bill and I don't even particularly like that, I'm not overly keen on direct debits.

I don't feel guilty though, there are so many charities out there that we can't sponsor them all so I make it a habit to try and give money to cancer research, just pick a particular cause and stick to it, these people shouldn't harass people on the streets.

Its difficult to say, depends entirely on how you feel and what you can afford. I give regularly to a few charities by Standing Order but what annoys me is the amount of money they waste sending me begging letters through the post.

Whatever given to charity is actually earned as a goodness and therefore if I give more I shall receive more

I don't like the ones that scrounge for money outside the supermarkets, they really piss me off. I'm perfectly capable of walking into a charity shop and giving money, and I do it that way.

I do give, but will admit I don't give enough. It's something that I just don't think about on a daily basis- and I should. I will say though, I have been giving more the past few years.

Me, myself and I are the only charities I donate to.
