So she gets part of his paycheck which is in effect, part of a husband. Yet she doesnt provide any wifely duties to him after the divorce.

Isnt that unfair?

I am a woman and i honestly think its not fair. Even if the woman has custody of the child because women use this advantage for their own.

BUT in other parts of the world you have no clue what women go through on a day to day basis. I am from India and in India there is nothing the law can do if a man rapes his wife. They can get a physical separation ( translated to retraining order) but a man will NOT be arrested if he rapes his wife. I read it in the newspaper today and my heart broke. As a woman my heart reaches out to all the women who suffer on a daily basis at the hands of their husbands/ boyfriends.

There is so much of unfairness in this world!!!

after a divorce no one has to 'perform' any 'wifely duties'

if @ time of divorce the wife got alimony and/or child support ordered out of his check, then so be it

newsflash - life is not fair, deal with it

UPDATE

putting money in her wallet is not her husbandly duty, you are right - but if a judge ordered child support, that is not for her, is for their child & and if you are not in agreement with what the courts ordered, then there are venues for that to be appealed

do your pre-nup, that is your right - I didn't do a pre-nup and I am in the process of getting divorced now. The house I had before we got married and the first thing I did when I found out he was cheating on me was to put it back in my name, if I had done a pre-nup, it would have helped but I so happen to be the kind of person that when I said "I do" I meant it, obviously my soon-to-be-ex didn't.... oh well.... and I could have asked for alimony, but I didn't 'cause I don't believe he should have to support me, I am grown, but he does have a responsibility with his child - which by the way, we came up with the child support amount instead of following the guidelines 'cause I know he has to pay child support for another child and to me is more important that he is a father to my child, not just someone that pays for his fatherly duties.

That is why you shouldn't bother getting married. You really have to know and trust that person. Then you have to turn around and sign a prenuptial.

The person who brings home the most bread has to help the other person continue to live life at the same level as when they were married. If the wife was making more bread, then she too would have to provide for the husband (alimony).

If it is giving due for child support yes.If not no. A woman should take care of there own selfs. They usually get everything if there are children involved. I really think laws should be changed. There are alot of divorced single moms that get nothing and make it. I believe child support should be paid. But other than that no.

Depends on the situation. Maybe you were so awful that she needed to be compensated for the time she spent with you!
