Besides for the iPod, are there any MP3 players that will work on a MAC?

I have an Apple with OS 10.2.8. and itunes on it. However, I'm not sure how much use I would get out of an MP3 player, so before I commit to an expensive iPod, are there any cheaper players that would work on my computer

Try the ipod shuffle. They are not THAT much more expensive than any other .mp3 players but much better in quality in my opinion.
