I'm talking about the original with Judy Garland. I watched it as a kid and was fascinated but didn't understand all of the messages until I got much older. Yes, I know the obvious message was "there is no place like home." But there seem to be lots of underlying themes. I'd like to know what you think please.

After viewing some of the answers I thought I'd post the messages I received from the movie:

1. There really is no place like home
2. Running away from a problem never solves anything
3. Fear of the unknown can prevent us from growing and understanding other cultures and perspectives
4. The answers to questions or problems are most often right there inside of you
5. "Family" is not always those related by blood
6. Have faith in yourself

I didn't and still don't regard any of the so-called messages as having much value, or important learning lessons, but I most definitely still enjoy watching it at least 3 times per year:)
