alright, when you put in a blank cd/dvd and your dvd burnen says : insert a blank cd/dvd that can have only one reason:

There is something wrong with your dvd/cd.

It might be not blank or be damaged or be scratched.
If you say you just got and opened the box yourself so the dvds/cds were actually damaged before being sold to you.

It happend time to time and it is a quite known issue.
You can ofcourse try to use some other burner softwares ( i highly recommand BinArtisanBurner ).

Since some softwares are capable to ignore damaged sectors and will do their job anyway but if even the above mentioned software tells the same thing so you better get another cd/dvds made by other companys or from other stores.

Is the disk blank? Are you using the right diskettes in your DVD? DVD burners do have different formats, you need to make sure you purchase the right type of blank media format used to read/write for your drive
