Flu is caused by virus and are not really seasonal. There are 200 or more viruses that can cause virus all through the year. The peak is winter months jan-feb because our immunity will be lowest at that time of the year. It is really hard not to get a cold, unless you never come in contact with another human being. Don't drink extremely cold water in summer(esp when it is extremely hot) as this will cool your throat down and give you a sore throat.
Second, you could also have pollen allergy...because right now is the pollen season. (it can start new even if you never had it before)
Take cold medicine, it will help for both and take rest, lots of fluids.

It's always possible for you to develope allergies at anytime, or it's possible that you might of caught a viral infection and that's possible anyday, anytime. Viruses are neither living, or non-living they cling on to bacteria cells and inject their deoxyribonucleicacid (DNA) into the host bacteria and they in turn spread this wonderful virus by reproducing with it's DNA.
