to each their own!

personally, I am not a Christian, and see many possible faults in the Christian world view. HOWEVER i can see how some people really benefit from Christianity, and therefore I will not try to sway anyone away from their beliefs. Likewise, i will usually try to stop people from preaching, or pushing their religion (whether that be Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc...) on someone else.

When dealing with religion, you are dealing with faith, and trying to alter someone's personal faith is like trying to build a damn across the Mississippi River made out of toothpicks, yeah it's possible but incredibly unlikely. Dealing with faith is a very tricky thing. Challenging someone's faith is like telling them that every single fact that they knew about life is wrong, people will instantly go on the defensive and shut down all rational thought.

This is why i try to avoid debates on religion

The free-thought of Christianity brought "Americans" to the Northern continent, eventually anyways.

What do I think about Christianity other than historical facts? I believe it was based, in Europe, on a millenia of contradictions stemming from Roman Catholicism. And that the best thing our anscestors did as pilgrims was to take our faith and move it. Now we have a democracy, where we can dispute these things...

First I am a Christian. I do not attend "organized" churches. My belief is this: God gave us what he considers to be sins in the Ten Commandments. We should try to live by those best we can. No man will live without sin so God gave us and took Jesus from us. If we simply acknowledge Jesus is our Savior and ask forgivness for our sins God will favor us and we eventually will end up in Heaven with him and all our loved ones that passed before us.

A good Christian learns not to judge, comdem or hate others for their sins or beliefs. We are also instructed in our Bible to teaach others about Christianity so they may decide for themselves if they should believe or not. And not to force our beliefs on others but meerly enlighten them in hopes they will decide to be saved.

It appears to me that most Christians are only believers on Sunday morning and forget about the other six and a half days of each week. Not always remembering to walk every step in the light of God.

Being a Christian is much more than converting others. It is a comitment to family and fellow man

So in return I ask this: As Christians we all are getting a bad rap for the actions of a few and because people who do not understand or have other agendas feed people bad propaganda through the media. No different than say, terrorism and Muslims. The majortiy of Muslims are good, peace-loving people but yet because of the actions of a few they all get lumped into one bad catgory. Just as Christians are from the actions of a few.

For people who say all Christians are judgemental, conquering and whatever else..... Or, that all Muslims are terrorists. Are ignorant and speaking in falacies from lack of knowledge on the subject. Or from the belief of listening to another ignorant person making a viewpoint without having a good knowledge or trying to validate that viewpoint with fact of what they are discussing.

Different people need different religions to meet their spiritual needs.
Christianity is one way of living this.
As for some comments, it's pretty meaningless to condemn a group of people because knowing some people from that group who behave in a certain way.
Religion is something very personal. At the end, if you look behind the surface, it's the same motivation.
Rules for people to live together peacefully in harmony.

I find it really funny and kind of sad that so many self-described "Christians" describe what they believe without any reference to Christ. The Ten Commandments? Jews had them, and Confucianism believed in ethics without even being a religion. The Golden Rule? Means nothing without Christ's example, and Christ's example means nothing without what he said.

Stop pansying around. Run hot or cold, but not in between. You can't be a Christian without believing in Christ as he claimed to be. "If Christ is not risen, our faith is in vain" said St. Paul.

I am a Christian. More than that, I am a Catholic. So naturally my opinion of Christianity is quite high; I believe it is true. And that is more than I can say for any "which religion is for you?" line of thinking, because I'm not a Catholic because it "satisfies my spiritual needs and makes me feel good", whatever that means. The fact is, I go there because I believe that it is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, and more than that even, the True Church.

My opinion on christianity is the same for every religion; Religion is a waste of time. It gives false hope. False hope being you believe that "god" is there for you, when in reality someone who is dead can not do anything for you.
Now, I do not mean that everything about "god" is bullsh.t, but alot of it is. If you're going to live, live for family and friends NOT for a dead person. Life for yourself.

P.S. i hate christians especially because they try to convert everyone in arms' reach.

It is one of the world's great Faith traditions. Jesus said, In my Father's House there are many mansions". If we were to label these mansions would they not be Judaism,Islam, Buddhism. Hinduism. etc. Faith is good if kept in moderation. As St. Paul said, Moderation in all things."
