You go to Start Menu.
Control Panel.
System.
And then click on the Advanced Tab.
Under Performance there is a settings tab.
You can increase your virtual memory there, but I wouldnt touch it because it usually allocates it the best way possible so that your computer and your graphics card gets the most from your memory.
It usually means you might need to upgrade your memory. Go to control panel again, then system, and then check your computer information and see how much memory you have. If you only have 128MB RAM, which is the standard that new computers come in, then you might need to add more RAM.
The more the RAM, the better performance of your computer. If you only have 128MB RAM then that basically means that you cant have much more than maybe 3 or 4 programs opened at the same time.
If you need more help or if you want instructions on how to install more memory, then contact me in my profile.

You can change the virtual memory by doing what someone else said. However, changing the amount of virtual memory only makes some of your hard drive available for use as "ram". Since your hard drive is MUCH slower than your primary memory, performance if Windows has to use virtual memory will slow to a crawl until the programs are swapped in and out and put back in primary memory. The easiest way to increase performance in your system is to add another stick of memory. That will do away with you having to rely on virtual memory at all. At least 512MB for Windows XP.

yes! follow the steps given by these answerers and increase Virtual memory increase 1.5 times of your RAM
like if your ram is 256 mb then 1.5*256= 384 Mb... else your computer will get corrputed....
AND HARDLY WINDOWS VIRTUAL MEMORY GETS LOW AND THAT PROBLEM SHOWN YOU ....... IS TOO LOW IS THE TASK DONE BY VIRUS.... Yes it's cmmon characterstics of Virus i know them i've been involved in Hacking before.... not anymore.. due to some reasons.. SO I BETTER SUGGEST YOU SCAN YOUR COMPUTER ONCE IF DIDN'T FIND ANYTHIN... THEN GET AVAST! antivirus http://www.avast.com free.. if it also didn't detected any viruses.. then SAFELY YOU CAN INCREASE VIRTUAL MEMORY!

The digital memory of your device is through default set up as a 1/2 of your actual memory. you are able to advance your digital memory through going to administration Panel - > device - > more advantageous (tab) -> performance (click on Settings) - > more advantageous (tab) -> digital memory (click replace) - set it up double of your present day length. evaluate upgrading your digital memory besides. yet another element you need to in all likelihood do is to open a lot less purposes at a time.
