1)Christina aka Moni gave a good link to where other -gry words can be found, all of which happen to be obsolete.
2)jackalanhyde almost hasd it on the money, the riddle according to the afore mentioned link gives a slighttly better version but i guess he wins the best answer, well done

OK, I've heard a variation on this question. It is a trick question, and it does have an answer, but the question has to be worded *exactly* right or it won't work.

I saw the question posted this way:
****
Two words that end with "GRY" are "angry" and "hungry". There are only three words in the English language; the third is something you use every day, and if you've read carefully, I've already told you what it is.
What's the third word?
****
[think for a moment before reading further]

The answer is ....

LANGUAGE

The trick lies in the wording of the second sentence. It says that there are only three words in "the English language". Most people assume that this means "3 words in the English language that end in 'gry'".

As I said, the trick is that the second sentence has nothing to do with the first sentence. The phrase "the English language" has three words, and the third one, "language", is something you use every day.

Clear as mud, right? :-)

Modern English or Olde English? I know this is a trick question as there isn't a third modern word ending with 'gry' but there are plenty of old english words.

Want to be specific or want to just give up on this very old and very silly game?

Oh, dangit Jack. I was all excited to tell everyone the answer was "language"!

Jack is correct, though. That's the fun of riddles. Only some of the question matters, and the rest is just there to throw you off.

Three words in "the english language". The rest is all b.s. :)

It's a joke, there is no third "gry" word. The third word is "three". It is referring to the third word of the sentence.

This word puzzle has stumped millions of people for a long time.
