If you are already taking oral medications and you don't find it helping try the following tips:-
Resting or sleeping in a dark room, during or after an attack, may be beneficial for some people.
Reducing or avoiding chocolate, certain cheeses (high in tyramine), foods with yeast extracts, monosodium glutamate (present in many processed foods and Chinese cooking), and alcohol may provide relief for some people.
Drinking plenty of water and avoiding drinks with caffeine can also help.
Wearing approved UV protected sunglasses, using a polarizing filter for computer screens, and generally protecting the eyes with regular eye checks can help to avoid effects of visual disturbance.
Regular meals, exercise, and leisure activities can all improve general health and well-being. Relaxation training, psychosocial behavior techniques, and stress management may also help.
These are self help methods to prevent the percentage of often attacks, however the following medications might be helpful:-
Some people find that the application of an ice pack to the head helps to dull the pain.

Depends what type of migrane it is and what type you get, I had really bad ones where they would get so bad I would throw up and couldnt look at light. They gave me imitrex for about 2 years then I got an operation that relived some of the pressure in my brain that was causing it. But if you are the type that dont get them often you may want to try excedrine migrane, the combination of pain reliver and caffine helps quickly with migranes.

Personally, I get auras before the actual migraine so I know to take 3 ibuprofin or 3 aleve and maybe some coffee, and it heads it off.

it depends on the type of migraine you have. If you have a migraine that goes into neck but not your shoulders or if over the counter meds. don't help you should see your Dr.

First I take two excedrin. Then I get a pack of ice for my head and neck. Then I make some peppermint tea and take it to my bedroom. I turn off all the lights, music, tv and tell everyone to be quiet. Then I drink the tea, put the ice pack on and try to sleep.

depends on the type that you have I have a very very bad type so I have to take a preventative every day then if I do get one I take medication that packs a punch, but try something with caffeine in it that will help, get out of the light and sound as much as you can and sleep they all help.

So have you tried traditional western meds for it? Imitrex works for my migraines wonderfully, as does maxalt. also I find I get them b/c of allergies so taking zyrtec helps too.
