I still cant believe im pregnant (going on 2 months). Anyway my question is should i wait until after the baby is born to have a baby shower or before? My other question is about how long do you have to wait until you can tell what the gender of the baby is

you can generally find out the sex of your baby at 20 weeks, if your baby cooperates for the ultrasound technician, of course. I would have your shower beforehand as you will be WAY too busy being a new mom after your baby is born.

I'm gonna tell you how I felt. When I was pregnant, I wanted to know the gender of my babies more than anything. They didnt cooperate so I didnt find out until I actually gave birth to them. My fiance and I plan on having more children and we no longer want to try to determine the gender of our babies. It's a very nice surprise when you wait until you deliver. If you do want to find out the gender, It's around 20-25 weeks that the gender is determinded. Your ob/gyn should be able to tell you. However, remember ultrasounds are not 100% accurate when determining the gender or a child. Sometimes the doctor can mistake the cord for being a penis etc. We had a baby shower a month before I had my oldest. We didnt have a shower with my youngest. It is fun to have the shower before you have the baby, but if I were to do it again, I'd wait til after the baby is born so everyone gets a chance to see your new bundle of joy

Find out sex of child at 5 months (21-weeks) When to have the shower is a totally personal decision. Before the birth, will get some great pictures of you 'Pregnant'. After the baby is born, well people are always wanting to get a glimpse of a new baby, gifts would be personalized. But, beware of colds, and other infections. The first two weeks will be tiring, and you might not feel like entertaining more than one friend at a time...Is up to you. CONGRATULATIONS!

OK. To be sure of the sex wait until you can check for yourself. I know people who were told during an ultrasound and the DR got it wrong.
Have the baby shower before the birth is traditional. Get the girls together one last time before you become a responsible parent.

I had both of my showers before the baby. This way you know what you still need to get. If you wait you may not know what you actually are going to need. Good Luck!!

usually its done before but its up to you. they are usually able to tell the baby's gender by the 20th week... im very happy for you. i havent been able to get pregnant, and i have been trying for more than a year.
