This is just in from the Boston Globe today: "As fighting in Afghanistan has intensified over the past three months, the US military has conducted 340 airstrikes there, more than twice the 160 carried out in the higher-profile war in Iraq, according to data from the Central Command, the US military headquarters for the Middle East."
I don't think the media is so much forgetting Afghanistan as public officials and the public seem to be focusing more on Iraq. Since the media is profit driven, they'll give the public whatever they want.
Personally, I'd hate to see the United States become bogged down in Afghanistan the way the Soviet Union was, with the Taliban coming back again and again to slowly eat away at both our military presence and our fiscal commitment there; but so far it looks like a blow-for-blow replay of their 1970s-80s fiasco.
If you want more news about Afghanistan I suggest you contact your media-of-choice and let them know you aren't getting enough. That failing, contact their advertisers and let them know. Unlike a number of others, I don't believe there's a "media conspiracy" to prevent certain things from being aired. News broadcasters respond to the market and provide people coverage that will generate the most advertising revenue. Impact that relationship and you will get the news you want.

They are rebuilding, and we are still fighting idiots in the hills. Unfortunately, the northern part doesn't seem to want to join the south in coming into the 21st century and do not wish to be a part of Afghanistan - they have their own fiefdoms because of their isolation and like it that way, child mortality rate and illnesses and all.

do you actually watch the news or are you just repeating what all of your Liberal friends are force-feeding you? Just yesterday, coalition forces in Afghanistan killed an estimated 45 insurgents and it was on the news.
