there is nothing to do. download a new firewall such as norton. and use an antivirus program for full scan of the computer there may be viruses in your computer. or by some way the firewall is changed by a program you instaled.

The most important function of a firewall is to block malicious outgoing connections to prevent keystroke logging, backdoor access, and whatever else the sociopaths come up with. Windows Firewall does not do this, so no matter what anyone tries to tell you otherwise, anyone with one shred of security sense will tell you it is not the answer.
Download a personal firewall like ZoneAlarm or Kerio. Other more involved options include utilizing an old PC to make a bastion host, which can act as a firewall, or a screening router which does the work for you. Hardware firewalls are always better than software ones, but invariably they cost more.
For personal PC security, ZoneAlarm or Kerio will be sufficient.

it can be the windows firewall file can be corrupted or could not be resolved due to other problems. then maybe you can try using 3rd party firewall. like the sygate and norton or the zone alarm. this are some alternatives you can have if the windows firewall gives you problems. if you do not want to use 3rd party software then you can back up the data you have in the computer and put in the OEM disc of the windows XP and do a repair to the OS. although when repair the windows XP the data in the computer might not be loss but for precaution matters, i too might also backup and then do a repair. i prefer the safe method. so maybe if you also looking for safe method , you can try although lengthy and might be too many steps to do. the final choice is you as a user. the windows firewall have no links to the windows updates.

The error can be caused by a problem in a shared access key. You can try the link below which offers steps to resolve the problem. I would do this before installing another firewall.

Try and use a different firewall. The windows firewall, is not much good, it does not block outgoing programs, just incoming. Here is a good free one, that you can use..
