When ANYBODY thinks of American food, they think of McDonalds. That's pretty bad.
Between all of the American eating dissorders, obesity, and fast food frenzy...I do agree that Americans are overfed and under nourished.

There is definitely some truth in it. Many Americans are obese, but that you will find also in other 'developed' countries such as Germany and Japan. The reason for that are the fast food (and unfortunately also the junk food ) industries that feed us with too many empty calories such as sugar, but do not worry about balanced diets, necessary minerals and vitamins. The result is that we get fat, but are not very well fed or under nourished. In addition we have not sufficient exercises and the empty calories make us expand and unfortunately also unhealthy.
It is every body's choice to follow the trend...or to live a healthier life.
The good point is that some people think about it , such as you, and might not fall in that trap.
Good luck!

It is the truth. If we recieved the nutrients that we need from our food when we eat, then our bodies wouldnt tell us that we have a craving for something and we eat more. By the process of refining all of our foods and how they prepare the foods so that a person does not have to cook when they get home from work is what is taking all the good nutrients and vitamins out of our food. Most people need supplements. This is a real reason why people are so typically overweight in the United States.

ABSOLUTELY! Most families are raising their kids on fast foods because there is no time or inclination to cook anything healthy. Portion control is gone by the wayside. Kids don't get physical education in school, nor do they get nourishing meals. They eat out of the snack machines. It's just pitiful what we are doing to our children in this country. Have you ever watched "Honey, we're killing the kids!". That show will open your eyes to what is really happening to the American family and population as a whole. Sad Sad Sad.

ABSOLUTELY! Just take a look at those around you... Most likely and unfortunately there will be those in the crowd that are overweight and even obese. Obviously overfed (consuming more calories then burning), and though not necessarily undernourished probably so (undernourished being the underconsumption of essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, etc as well as low intake of other health promoting/disease preventing food components such as fiber and phytochemicals etc.). We as Americans in general "overfeed" ourselves with caloric dense, nutrient absent foods and beverages.

I agree with you totally have a 7 year old and I try really hard to keep him from eating junk but junk is being disguised as food and fed to our children even in the school lunch program,These eating habits I believe are what has lead to the obesity in the U.S.

Yes. We consume more calories than any other country in the world, and yet we are the sickest. The fact that this illness is directly related to a lack of nutrition is intentionally hid from us via the media and doctors. And yet, it is the truth.
