It's not lame at all, at least not any more than any other genre of music. It's all in the listener. Country music is about life and reality and everyone can relate to it, no matter how lame you think it is. You just have to give it a chance. If more people had an open mind then maybe country music would loose this ignorant stereotype. Most people that say they dislike country are probably listening to country music and don't even realize it. These days, alot of country artist have crossed over into pop/rock radio. And most recently, there has been an opposite crossover from pop/rock to country radio. Brett Michaels from the rock group "Poison" is/has recorded a country album. Bon Jovi also has a popular song on country radio right now. Uncle Kraker toured with Kenny Chesney last year, Kid Rock has also appeared on stage with Kenny Chesney and his song "Picture" with Sheryl Crow was a huge hit on country radio. The country duo Van Zant is made up of the Van Zant brothers Johnny, lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Donnie, lead singer for 38 Special. If country music is so lame, why is gaining such popularity? Did you know in 2005 the only artist to have a higher attendance at their concerts than Kenny Chesney's 1.1 million was U2? He only tours in the U.S. Imagine what it would have been if he had toured internationally.

You need to get out of the house more. I know plenty of cowboys! And if you don't understand or like country music that's ok cause everyone has different taste in music...lame and contrived is only in the hear of the listener. There is good and bad in all types of music.

no more cowboys you may be right the last real cowboy went to the great range in the sky
Chorus:
You'll ride a black tornado across a western sky.
Rope an old blue norther and milk it 'till it's dry.
Bulldog the Mississippi, pin its ears down flat
Long before you take this cowboy's hat.
Chris ledoux was the true definition of a cowboy

I do agree some country music is lame, that's why I stick with the old school Outlaw Country. Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones...Montgomery Gentry and Van Zant is approaching this trend as well, so is Big and Rich.
It's all who you listen to...but as far as all that Sugarland sh*** I'm not into that.

I get really depressed when I'm in a dollar general store and whoever is the manager is either listening to country, or rap. And while your shopping the music gets louder and It's bad for business. Because I'll leave my basket and get the hell out of the store.

A lot of people feel the same way about rock music too. It must mean you don't like country music and instead of just not listening to it you have chosen to not understand it, so you think it's stupid. Whatever!!!!!

I don't agree with your opinion,at least you can understand what is being sung, unlike RAP which sounds like someone singing at the bottom of a swimming pool.
