Generally the telcos are the cheapest, though they often push the ISP aspect (providing only the actual connection) off onto MSN or Yahoo and one might not appreciate the MSN software that's used.

Keep an eye out for Broadband Over Powerlines that will be provided by the electric companies. I expect it to be the cheapest or at least drive down ISP prices. Mind you, BBOP is very controversial since it causes interference with HAM radio frequencies, a service that all countries need in true emergencies.

Roadrunner has a hgh speed hook up called Roadrunner Lite that is $14.95 a month. Cheapest I have found. The "high speed" claims from outfits like AOL etc are just dial ups.

DSLExtreme has the sme prices, and it's faster, SBC and Verizon are on te broadband pain list, I get 1.2 Mbps on my ADSL on DSLExtreme
