For example, the Mayans had a calender that only went to 2012. I'm pretty sure that they had an opinion of where we are on that road called destiny. Lately I have been like waiting for this something to happen and I really dont know why I feel this way but I feel like it is BIG>

Things are happening everyday. Some are big and lots are small...some good and some bad...
The problem with trying to answer where we are in the BIG Picture is that we don't even know how big the picture is, we have no scale to measure with.
The planet Earth is our only habitat at the moment. So if something big happened and made it un-inhabitable then humans would become extinct. Then we could say generations alive right now would be at the end of line. But until that happens we cannot know the answer, and if I am alive when it happens I don't think the Big Picture will be what is on my mind at the time.
I think that our life span is a fraction of a dot in the Big Picture, so don't stress over it, just enjoy your time here and the Picture of your life will become clearer as you go along.

I am 44 and not afraid of death. I could die today tomorrow or 40 years from now. I really don't think the world will come to an end in my life time. I try to enjoy every day I wake up.

I think your bored like the rest of us. There hasn't been any real HUGE discoveries in a while. I think populating other planets will be the most profound thing to happen in the near future. That, and a cure for cancer.
