It isn't a secret about where it is, more about what they do, which is mostly develop new military aircraft.

Area 51 (also known as Dreamland, Watertown Strip, Paradise Ranch, The Farm, The Box, Groom Lake, and The Directorate for Development Plans Area) is a remote tract of land in southern Nevada, owned by the federal government of the United States, containing an airfield apparently used for the secret development and testing of new military aircraft. The location was compromised a LONG time ago, what they do there is secret... but to tell you the truth around 1998 they closed down the secret stuff COMPLEATLY (most was closed way b4 hand, but not all) and moved to a better location to carry on research, so that tourists don't bug them... since then I believe the sightings have stopped around the area and tourism has dropped. I think I remember reading somewhere that they went to some base in Dakota.
Supposedly what made it truely shut compleatly down, was some eco dude took them to court b4 a judge... due to them miss-handling toxic/nucler waste. The people who worked for the gov gave the arguement that no such thing was on record, but in the end since it was officially documented they uped and moved once and for all and for good. I believe that's why people still can not enter on the premis, it's just filthy and bad for your health due to their mess-ups.

Area 51 closed down. It is no longer secret: for several years or so. Aliens? Nope... it is the top technology AIRPLANES that look like alien aircrafts, and roam around the planet since like, 50 yrs ago. You ccan or cannot prove me wrong. Am I right? That was in the news.

At aera 51 the majority of testing goes on at night, and notice how google Earth has stayed the same for some time now.
