well, once any pepper plant is grown in, it will remain alive as long as you keep it in a stable environment. its the climate change that affects them. i dont know if they produce the whole year though. i'm growing a bunch of my own, and we're gonna try a "greenhouse" room in our home. i'm gonna do my best to see if i cant have peppers all year. i'm always making salsa and chili, so it would save me money, i'll get the freshest ingredients, they look really cool growing in the house, and its just plain fun. lol.

All pepper plants are shrubs in the tropics. They will live for many years if kept in bright warm conditions in the mainland US. You can grow them outdoors in the summer and in greenhouse conditions in the winter. You have to be a Master Gardener to keep them growing healthy for years in a container. Might want to find a master gardener, thru you local county extension and ask them, they know and understand you local climate.

Almost anything will grow. It is climate that stops growth. As long as it is warm and gets plenty of sunshine it should grow.
