do not remove the foliage (stem and leaves) until it's brown because the bulb uses all that to store energy for next year's blooms. Do trim off all that remains of the flower because it uses some of the energy that could go back to the bulb - it's trying to make seeds which in most climates wouldn't germinate anyway.

Cut the seeds off the tops to conserve energy and leave the stems and leaves standing until brown. When they start going dormant, you can cut the stems off.

Allow the leaves to die natually, the bulb needs their energy to grow and prepare for next year, and then they will give you an even better show.
