My neck has been hurting me since this morning. I was cracking my neck. It doesn't really hurt but it feels funny. Maybe I am just overreacting, but could this be true? What should I do?

Yes - I believe there were some studies done on cadavers where their neck was adjusted. Some necks literally snapped off when over 90 pounds of torque was applied.

In your case, I think it is extremely unlikely. More likely that you have adjusted it too many times and irritated the hell out of the surrounding soft tissue.

Just avoid cracking it right now, apply ice and take some OTC anti-inflammatories. You should be fine in a day or two. If not, or you start to get weakness, numbness in your arms and/or hands, start droping things out of your hands, go to the ER immediately.

You could have pinched a nerve in your neck or pulled a muscle in your neck which can make it sore for a few days! You should also be vry careful next time to try and crack your neck! I'm not really that sure if you can break your neck while cracking it but I most deefinately know that you can hurt your neck like pinch a nerve or pull a muscle so you should try and go to the doctors to get a checkup on your neck! Hope this helped!

You could have pinched a nerve or somthing like that, its really not healthy to ever use your hands when cracking your neck. Unless you jump, and slam your neck on a counter and twist at the same time, Im pretty sure you cant accidently break your neck by just trying to crack it.

No its not possible to break you neck by popping it. I takes a lot of pressure to do that, but I would go see a chiropractor if it hurts that bad. You probably pinched, pulled or strained your muscle when you manipulated it. Put either an ice pack alternated with heat every 20 min. or put deep heating rub on it. Then call a chiropractor tomorrow.

Highly unlikely. The amount of force needed to break your neck is greater than that which you would apply to yourself.

If you did not just strain a muscle (which I would guess), then a visit to a chiropractor should take care of it for you.

My advice would be to take a pain reliever and relax. Hot bath/shower would help. If it persists past 3 days, head to the doctor or chiropractor.

I was concerned about my son cracking his own neck...dr said that w/out propper training of how to do it, that he could really mess it up...he still doesn't listen....if still bothers you after 24 hours you should go to a dr or chyropractor...good luck!!

Dude, I think you're over reacting. If you are really worried, go to the emergency room. My guess is that if you are not in pain (and can still wiggle your fingers and toes, you are fine. But I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV.
