I am a fan of Italy but I think that De Rossi should be banned for the rest of the Wc. That was a nasty challlenge he clearly did it deliberately. It was not pretty, the Italian FA should show-cause him. I always preferred Gattuso in midfield.

It was an unfortunate incident but I highly doubt that he wanted to hit McBride deliberately.
He was clearly looking at the ball and he was trying to jump up to fight for the header. When you jump up, your elbows move backwards inadvertantly, therefore, McBride was just in the wrong place at the wrong time to be hit like that. He's a very passionate and agressive young player with a lotta talent, he should be allowed to play on after his one game suspension.

Should be out for the remainder of the tournament. And I don't know how anyone can justify a yellow when you draw blood like that.

Given that they were near mid-field, I don't understand what he was thinking. He should have to sit out several games for what he pulled.

He got what he deserved, no more, no less. It was a nasty elbow, yes, but he doesn't deserve more than just a red for it
