What format are your videos in presently? VHS? If so, you need a capturing device and software. Check out the dazzle for the device and pinnacle for the software.

A TV card is a very good solution. You install it in the computer and hook up a VCR to it. The video then plays on the computer. It can be recorded and saved and then converted to DVD. However, an easier solution is a DVD recorder. Target has one for about $100...not all that much more expensive than a TV card, and you won't have to go through the process of converting them to DVD on the computer. That part takes literally hours while the computer sits there and converts the files. Here are two choices.

To all, this is not so tough! You'll need a "video capture" device of some type. You have a couple of choices here, a PCI internal card or a USB external device. The internal device will require you to remove the cover of your P.C. and load some software to the hard drive. The external device hooks into the USB and the "audio in" ports on the back your computer and load up some software. You'll also need some RCA patch cords. They come in different lengths to suit your needs. They will attach to a VCR or a camcorder and to the USB/PCI device. The software will enable you to "capture" the video to your hard drive. One hour of video takes up 1GB of hard drive space. So, have a good sized hard drive! Some software allows you to burn directly to a DVD from the VCR or camcorder. This also enables you to "customize" your home videos by adding titles, credits, and transitions (fade to black,etc.). You can use Microsoft's free "Movie Maker" software for this purpose.
