there is a general" rule of thumb.". that when you are very young, you lean towards a more liberal view ,being that a liberal view is a very idealized one..and as you get older , you become more conservative due to realizing the idealized view is not reality. and is actually more complicated to achieve than they thought.... as a person gets older, has a family , a home etc... their views begin to change.. and much of their parents views become their views.. its not a 100%.. though ... there are some young people that are very conservative as well as some old people that are still zealous in their liberal views... but most people though they may appear conservative still carry hopes for peace, equality etc... in other words an idealized world - its not about being a victim either way... its about having a better understanding of the world around them..

We are mature and realize the mistakes of our youth!! As a young person you think everything is gray, and as an adult, you realize things are actually black and white.
The majority of people are conservatives, but they are afraid to let anyone know. They want to be politically correct.
I applaud those that state their true opinions and stick by them. Too many say one thing, but they believe another. Fear motivates too many people. Say what you think, and if others don't agree so what!! At least you are honest, unlike many who are afraid to state what they really believe.
Excuse politicians. They don't tell you what they really believe because they want the votes. Look at their records.

Ouch! As someone who fall under that category(being older) , I surmise it is at that age level that mortality has become a reality. You feel it in your bones and life has beaten the crap out of you. The reckless abandon of your youth has leveled off. Probably gone with most of your hormones.

When we were young we thought life should be easy, sweet, nice, comfy and people should take care of us like our parents did.
then reality sets in. we see our families do without because gov taxes us to feed ,house, cloth, those who refuse to get off their buts.
we have the fattest POOR PEOPLE in the world. We are expected to send what we earn to benifit the ungratefullor give them prefferential treatment, jobs, schooling, rights.
Life can be hard enough without having to carry some worthless
bum on your back with her 6 kids by 6 daddies

The answer is money.
When you are young, you have no money and no power. So, supporting liberalism/socialism is a means to get some power.
As we age, we get more power and we want to hold onto that. So, we support conservative laws.

I think we do that because we have learned so much from the time of birth that we change in a way.

I wonder if that is really the case. If true, it could be that we are no longer quite so naive and our income tax bill payments are not getting any smaller.

Is this actually true? In my experience people this age and older slowly become more moderate in their beliefs.

Do you mean mature and responsible? Perhaps because that is what you are supposed to do as you get older.
