Let the numbers be n and n+1 (consecutive)

then the answer is 2n(n+1)

You know, I can tell you're really trying, (not just fishing for homework answers) because you didnt ask the whole question, just the part you needed help with setting up properly.
Good Luck!

Try to break things down step by step:

"Two consecutive integers," what does this mean?
If you find it hard to translate, think of specific examples.

Examples such as 4 and 5, 1000 and 1001, etc. might come to you. So how do you write the product? What does twice mean? You're specific example will give you 2*(4*5) or 2*(1000*1001) Now how do you write that in a general way? 2*(n*(n+1).
You might also write it as 2*((n-1)*n). Both will get you to the same answer, but you must be careful to keep you terms straight.

The product is any number plus any other number. In your case, they are two consecutive (one after the other) numbers. Twice means 2x. So, if it was one plus two = 3 X 2 = 6. But it could be 2 + 3 equals 5 = 10. There is no "answer". You see? it depends on the two consectutive integers. What are they is the real question. -beaver (Rock Island, Illinois)

yeah, the 2n(n+1) guy has got it down pat

simply put, if n represents any integer(whole number), then 2(2n+1)=y. or you could even say 2(2n-1)=y. the consecutive integer can be of a lesser value than x.
y is the product.
example n=3
2(2x3+1)=y
2x(6+1) =y
2x7 =14
2(3+4) =14

2(2x3-1)=y
2(6-1 =y
2x5 =10
2(3+2) =10

Take two consecutive integers, 14 and 15, say. Now multiply them together. You get 14 times 15 = 210 in this example. Now multiply 2 by your answer: 2 times 210 =420.

2 * x * (x + 1)
2(x^2 + x)
2x^2 + 2x

pick a number x, now add 1 to that which gives you the next consecutive number, now multiply a number x, and number x plus 1, and 2.

Consecutive : x, x + 1, x + 2, x + 3, etc..
Consecutive Odd/Even : x, x + 2, x + 4, x + 6, etc...
