In the last couple of weeks it has gotten worse! She has bought the same skirt (in a different color) and now wants to get the same sweatsuit in a same color when she saw mine! I see her about 4 times a week and hate it because I am always worried we will be wearing the same things!!!! She is 57 and likes to dress nice and "young" Do I tell her to stop or ignore it?

OMG...I have the same problem, but it isn't just w/ clothes. It is with EVERYTHING.

Right now, I am looking at Mustangs and she came home the other day and had test drove one...SHE has never ever mentioned wanting one.

My hubby says this about his mom "If you buy a designer bag of Sh*t she will want it...get used to it"

I don't know how to get her to stop. Start buying tacky clothes and she may get the hint...I have been living w/ a copy cat mother in law for 13 years.....it doesn't get any better!

You should be understanding of her reason, and be grateful that she respects your choices so much. All of us have models we emulate both consciously and unconsciously, and although this is an unusual situation, think of it as a talent of choice you have and may not have realized it. Perhaps you should be flattered. On a more humorous side, you might try wearing something more risque and see what happens. Anyway, I think you should feel flattered.

Its actually a compliment to you!!! But I can understand what you're feeling, she should actually be dressing for her won age. Have you tried talking to her and letting her know how you feel??? Do you get along other than that??? I wouldn't tell you to get something ugly and see if she gets it as well, that wouldn't be right!!! Best of luck to you!!!

See it as a compliment. It would bother me too to have a carbon copy, haha. Let her know your feeling about it or just don't tell her where you bought your clothes.
