You need to show them you can handle the responsibility. Help out around the house, wash dishes, take out the trash, vacuum, dust the furniture, or even yard work. Having a pet can be time consuming and it takes a commitment form you. Good luck!!

Owning a pet is a very responsible thing to do. Can you do tasks around your home for several weeks to show how responsible you can be? Perhaps your parents will change their mind if you try to be more reliable each day. Make a list of things that a pet owner must do every day and show it to your parents. If you aren't sure, go to the library or a pet shelter and find out exactly what is required of you.
Owning a pet requires a certain amount of expense for regular veterinary check-ups, quality pet food, and some equipment, depending on what kind of pet you get. Perhaps you can help with additional tasks around the home to earn points that would apply toward a 'pet account expense.' Good luck. A pet will bring you much joy and wisdom if you take good care of it.

You can't.
They run the show... and when you're the parents... so will you. (hopefully)
Bad things happen when the inmates run the asylum, accordingly the same is true in families.
Having a pet is a BAD DEAL for parents. First, there is the expense. Second, there is the TIME required, Third, there's providing for care when you must leave for vacations and such, ALSO... FOOD expense, clean up... pet smells, damage to furniture, more frequent house cleaning.... Chewed shoes... scratched doors... Pee accidents... GOD FORBID VET VISITS with bills in the hundreds of dollars.
And you see the dog as a cuddly fun companion! And you would because you don't have to DEAL with any of the above.
Now... the "defense is"... MOMMY MOMMY I want his so bad I'll do all of the above. And some kids actually do for about 10 days. THEN guess who it falls back on?
And where are you going to get 300 dollars for a VET BILL or 45 dollars a day for boarding, when you're on vacation... do YOU have that kind of money?
I didn't think so!
Look... You parents know best. Deal with it... understand it. Get a pet when you move out.
KIDS!!!! Grrrrrrrrr

obviously a Jeff Gordon fan. How old are u? Try showing them that you can be responsible by helping around the house even when you are not asked. Sit down and have a talk with your parents and explain to them why you want a pet, how you will take care of your pet, and so on. Pets are not toys but a big responsibility, so make sure you can handle it first! GOOD LUCK!

ask to have a real sit-down discussion with them, get them to buy you books on how to properly raise a pet, read the books all the way through and let you parents know what you learned, and be responsible in all other aspects (helping around the house, keeping your room clean, helping out with your siblings (if you have any))
I think cats are the best pets for children...please do not get a small animal...they are easily hurt and are actually harder to take care of than cats

Your mom is probably upset about all the irresponsible deaths. It is hard losing an animal and you are ready to move on when you just can't sometimes. Your family is tired of seeing beloved pets go. Not just that, but how much attention are your gonna give a rabbit outside? Winter is even coming up. Rabbits pee BIG and your parents wont let it in the house anyways...

You didn't say if you asked already and they refused you, also you didn't say your age,if you are very young, most young kids get tired of their pets in a short time and the parents get stuck taking care of the pet.If its a cat you want they are easy to care for,but dogs you have to walk and train. If your parents refused you,go to them and ask them to let you have the pet on a trial,to see if you are taking care of it right(a month)and if your not they can take it back!If you really want the pet it will work out and you can keep it! Good Luck

if you have problems taking care of yourself and your things that maybe the reason as to why they won't let have a pet and then again they may not want a pet in their house and deal with the shedding and the messy that they pet will leave in the house no matter how well you take care of them.

I agree with i think everyone here, you need to act responsible and prove you are mature enough to have a pet. Make sure your parents know you will not dump the work on them and that you will do your part. well good luck. ♥

Show that you are responsible and promise to take good care of it. Study up on what pet you want and impress them with your knowledge of what would be required for their care. Contentrate on picking one pet. You could always foster a pet first and prove to them that you are responsible enough.
