Some white lies are used as to not hurt your feelings. Other lie's are just because the other person isn't big enough to tell you the truth, they may fear your reaction and THEY aren't the ones who are unable to handle it, your reaction so for them, it's easier to lie to you so they don't have to deal with the consequences of whatever it was they did and feel the need to lie about it.

I lie because it is so much easier than facing the truth. It allows for me not to fail and for me to live up to your expectations. I never want to hurt you, so I lie to protect you from the truth, to protect me. I lie to try and avoid conflict. I do it to protect both you and me.
