The problem is not whether "God can make a rock so big he can't lift it". The problem is, do you have the capacity to know if He can? Can you verify it, deny it, observe it, conceive it?
The theory of Big Bang states that everything begins from a point. Can you conceive the notion of "big", since the whole universe was from a single point? Do you consider everything in space to be already "lifted up"? Is being "lifted" all a matter of perspective? Can something be considered "lifted" and yet "not lifted". Is the planet Earth in space, considered "lifted" or not?
So, before you think you can corner God, have you considered the apparent "paradox" more a limitation of man, rather than God?

Yeah, I think maybe in Heaven, God once in a while goes "Just for grins I'm gwine try to mek me a dang rock I cain't lift. Think I can do it Lil An-GELS?"
No, in all seriosity (?) here, I believe in an Omnipotent God who sometimes places limitations upon His own power, which is akin to His making a rock and choosing to RESTRAIN Himself from lifting it. He could lift it if He wanted to.
Examples?
Many faiths believe in man's free will. God made man, but man can basically do whatever he wants, even when he does things that God would certainly stop if He only permitted things of which he APPROVED to happen in the universe.
In Christian belief, there is the example of the Incarnation: Omnipotent, AllKnowing God taking on human form, coming into the world as an infant who would experience hunger, pain, sleepiness and even humiliation and torture when He grew up.

I think you're trying to ask a question that leads to a logical paradox, so let me rephrase your question a bit:
Can God create a stone so heavy that He cannot lift it?
This is very similar to another question:
What happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object?
These questions are called omnipotence paradoxes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omnipotence_paradox), which should be understood only as an exercise in logic, not as the postulation of a possible reality.
BTW, one possible conclusion to you question is that God does not exist, since the paradox can only be resolved if one of the things in the paradox does not exist, i.e. God or the unliftable stone. But then if God doesn't exist then the stone couldn't have been created by God, so the stone doesn't exist either.

Your asking this in a physics forum.
So you are asking can a fictitious entity create a real object that he cannot lift.
Well he does not exist, so he can't create anything. Because he does not exist he also cannot lift anything.
So the asnwers are:
No. No. and, er No.
That was easy.

God can't make rocks. It violates the first law of thermodynamics. Energy, matter, cannot be made or destroyed only change forms.

This is an old and famous paradox. The question is framed in such a way that whatever the answere may be it will indicate that God has His limitations.Such a question has no practical relevance.
