Actually, my advice will be in direct contrast to the one stated above. STOP changing his water, for now anyways. I have had this problem with my Betta's many many times over the years. I know alot of fish stores tell you to change 75% of their water to keep it clean, and unless he is in a very very small bowl, just keep about a litre or two of tap water sitting out all the time, (for two days minimun) before you add it to the tank to either freshen or top it up from evaporated water. Bettas need more bacteria and natural slime than other fishes.....please dont change his water for a couple of weeks, and if is in more than 2 gallons of water....add a little heater and I PROMISE that you will see major changes in him in no time. Dont listen to the people at the aquarium store. Also, and equally important, if you are not using gravel in the bottom of his tank.....please do so, not those pretty decorative stones. The gravel helps filter down and trap his excrements and rotton food, and let the good 'dirt' still free float in the water. If you dont use gravel, he is getting it all.....all the time.
I know that was kind of long winded, and I hope it made sense.
Good luck with your fishies.

Did this happen after a water change?
If not, I hate to tell you this, but you have no clue how old your Betta really is if you bought it from the pet store...so, your Betta could simply be old and about to pass away.
I used to sell pets at Wal-Mart, and some of these fish come to the store about 1 to 2 years old already, and the average fish life expectancy is 3 to 4 years.
I hope things work out, but it sounds to me like the Betta is dying.

Change the water, and wash all the decorations that you have in his tank. Also buy water conditioner. It helps "smooth" out the tap water, and has good benefits for your fish's skin as well. If that doesn't help, change his food (perhaps the pellets you're giving him has gone bad??). Also, put him out into the sunshine (they really like sun light). So put his tank on the window sill, and see if he likes it. Good luck!

try changing the water, you can call your pet store and see if they have any ideas on what you can do. I love beta fish, I've had one for almost a year and a half now.

Your Beta fish needs a "girlfriend!" He's lonely! Get him a Beta girl for crying out loud! :( Poor dude! Better yet, if you wanna make him a pimp, you'd better get him 3 Beta girls :)
