When I look through the spam in my Gmail account, the messages don't even make any sense, it's just a bunch of garbled phrases. why do they do that?

Spam is generated to get hit points or viruses or for id thefts. Many reasons why people spam you. There is no way one can avoid spam. You don't have spam only as long as you are lucky.

Spammers create a mail & send it to addresses that are randomly generated based on certain info retrieved or collected from websites like online casinoes, online lotteries, porn sites etc. Based on this info the spammer can randomly generate names which would be effective ids. Out of a hundred ids even 10 real ids is enough for the spammer. Atleast one would click. That way business is booming for the spammer while we are left mumbling :)

That logic makes sense. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.
