I would bring the military home from around the world and disband it. I would keep the navy and air force at same level. The Army and the Marines I would cut drasticly and make them into a lean mean defensive machine. There would be no more policeing the world. We need to protect our own borders more then we need to change governments. Lead by example. There would be a huge savings from this and I would reinvest that money into building infrastruture right here in America. We need that. That would create jobs to take care of the loss of military jobs.
Next thing I would do is fix the health care system. I would take it right out of the private insurances hands and put it in as a part of government. It is in crisis right now and we only have to look as close as north of the border to find a system that works.
Third I would overhaul the education system. As much as any federal can do. We are pooring good money after bad into this system, Year around schools to fully utilize the resourses would be one of the suggestions I would have. Another would be to pace the learning according to each students capability, I have knowledge that most students come out of school with very few life skills. So with the knowledge that the country needs people with all sorts of working skills I would target according to skill and inteligent level.
Taxes, I would raise the tax on the very rich back to pre Bush era. I would take that money and reinvest in jobs which always creates more jobs.
5th I would leave my options open, depends on needs the first 4 are important to the country because the economy is what fires everything else. But I do think it would involve illegal alians, send them home.

Real democracy (like Switzerland or Ancient Greece) where everyone votes on everything, as democracy is not representative of what people want if whoever you vote for just ignores you, barter economy where you have to trade for what you want without money, therefore creating a much fairer economy and giving people an incentive to work hard and become good at what they do, a choice of an intellectual, artistic or skill-based education at 15, so everyone can find what they're good at, no globalised corporations (but only if the country was large enough to support itself) as they lead to inequality and diminish individual responsibility, free healtcare and top-quality education for everyone, as it makes sense.

1. Burn all the money.
2. Create a social system based on Oneness as it is the spiritual ideal that will remove emphasis from religion or politcal-based government.
3.Institute a free system of production of food and services for the entire populace.
4.Create a mandatory educational program for all, allowing individual selection of areas of interest and placing them in jobs of their own choosing.
5.Revamp the prison system, making individual prisoners go through an educational program that emphasizes indebtedness and then have them make restitution in a manner in as close approximation to the nature of the crime as possible....
Okay, maybe I am a dreamer but it can't be any worse than the mess we have now.

A domestic policy stronger than a foreign policy. Take care of the people, they will take care of the nation (education, employment, health care, lower taxes)

A immigration policy that says, if you can't produce, you're not welcome. If you're a criminal, you're not welcome. If you commit a felony or are unemployed for more than 6 months of your first year here, good-bye.

Limited unemployment/welfare program; focusing on training and nuturing personal job skills, resume writing, interviewing skills/tactics; ending with a cold calling session for the purpose of getting you a job and off welfare.

Legalize marijuana, but only that grown by the government and taxed accordingly (if you grow your own or buy from a source other than the government you are guilty of tax evasion).

Become as independant as possible from foreign influence. Develop domestic energy sources (solar, wind, hydro, nuclear), higher taxes on fossil fuel useage, tax breaks for alternative fuel users.

Outlaw political parties, each state or county or portion of the country would have an elected representative for petitioning the government. Oh yeah, I and my progeny are supreme rulers, we don't get elected out of office.

Handguns larger than a .38 are illegal all citizens over 18 are required to own a handgun, carrying it is personal choice. All rifles are banned. If you want to hunt, that's fine, use a bow or a pistol. If you are proven to have intentionally killed another citizen in a court of law, you are put to death. No appeals.

Freedom of religion. You are free to worship any religion you desire as long as that religion does not condone violence against other citizens or religious groups.

1. National Security (we have to be alive)
2. Balance The Budget (we have to have money to be viable)
3. Universal Health Care (see #1)
4. Immigration (Allow the Mexicans who are already here to stay (no way to get them out) but then build a nice big old wall to ensure that no more illegals get across.)
5. Education (No Child Left Behind=Every Child Left Behind)

Education: An educated nation is a respected nation.

Balancing deficit: Needless to say, money is strength.

International Relations: In our volatile world, allies are essential.

Lower unemployment: Unemployed people are at serious risk for severe depression, especially when they have a family to feed. Plus, more money, more spending power, the better condition national economy will be in.

Healthcare: Healthy people are happy people.

education. I don't think I could list 5...I belive with a better education system that people will have better critical thinking skills and thus create a better change for all other aspects. if a person is taught the necessary critical thinking skills, it bleeds over into all other areas of that person's life. One begins to analyze and question why things are the way they are and wants to understand so that the system can possibly be bettered

1)Immigration; Speak and write the language and know it's history.
2) Health Care; New immigrants pay into the system for five years before taking out of the system.
3) Education: Consistency throughout the system
4) Criminals; Build more jails; natural life means natural life.
5) Taxes; I think whomever pays taxes has the right to tell the government where he/she wants their taxes to be used, ie. if the person wants their taxes for road purposes, so be it.

Number One protecting my people, because all our progress means nothing if we end up being occupied.
Number Two, the economy, make it easy for people to find jobs, cause if my people are broke, they'll move away or kick me out.
number three, educating the children. they are the future of my people and if we mess up raising them, what we have now will eventually be forgotten.
Number Four, eliminate government overspending so my people will pay less taxes. make the government work for them, not the other way around. provide them easier access to go to college, adopt children, and other government services.
Number Five, come up with more concise definitions of what our civil liberties are so they aren't abused so much. for example freedom of the press is great, but the press doesn't always tell the truth. freedom must be tempered with consequence to bring about fairness.
