People are accessing my computer and deleting my files. How do I keep a log that will track file deletions?

standard safe pratices say change your password on a regular basis. and don't leave it on a post it note on your monitor.

go into a forrest and find a tree about 1 1/2 feet in diameter. Cut it down and cut a peice out of the trunk that is 2 feet long. Bring this into your house and draw a few LED lights on it with a majic marker, then turn on your computer. Plug in the supplied USB cable into the front or ack of your computer. Your computer should be able to recognize your log. Run through the installation wizard, and your log should be keeping track of virtually everything.

Take backups everytime you logout of the system. Protect your logon with a password that only you would know & keep your important files in a protected folder in your logon & warn the deleters.

If you want to allow people inside your house with their shoes on then you will need to put up with soiled carpets.

Hey there, Just put yourselft as administrator for your computer, and set a password for it, and if you want you can make accounts for other people that use your computer, and when you put yourself as admin othe accounts will have limited access to your computer and will not be able to delete and thing either install anything.

You're not giving enough info. Are the people hacking in from the outside or sitting at your PC? If you have Windows 2000 or XP just create a good password and don't give it out.

if what you are saying is true, you need a firewall and a good anti-virus. And avoid risky behavior on the internet - visiting porn sites, opening email attachments from unknown addresses, etc.
