Some things get broken or destroyed when you make something or do something (something important or worthwhile)

It means you can't create something without ruining or changing something else. You ruin the shell by breaking the eggs but how else are you gonna make an omelet? Use that junk in a carton?

Unless you make efforts you cant achieve anything. In your efforts you may come across many hurdles, many challenges and may even have to do some unpleasant things, sacrifice certain things.
To elaborate the same analogy if you are to learn cooking you may burn some items , over cook, over fry, or add more salt or more sugar and thus spoil the cooked food but after few such wasteful efforts and trial and error methods you become an expert cook. To learn it you have to begin it somewhere. and in that efforts you cant be always play safe and be goody goody but risk things, break things,
I think it must have originated in a British home!!!!

An egg (shell) is a perfect package for protecting the egg inside. But an omelet is a wonderful thing to eat. You can't get one good thing (the omelet) without giving up another good thing (the perfect packaging). So, try to apply it to the situation you are having- you may have to sacrifice one good thing for something better. Kathy

It means that most things have to be accomplished through trial and error, that you cannot get things right without practicing first. It might also refer to what economists call the cost of a certain choice, the things you have to give up on if you would like to possess sth or to succeed.

It's a crappy saying and it means that you can't achieve something without do any damage or hurt someone.

That saying is the excuse of those who will do anything to anyone in order to succeed. Try to avoid these kind of people.
