It's really surprisingly simple...

the Sensation of "Pins and needles" is how our receptors tell up that the various tissues arn't getting enough blood.

It's an indication of poor circulation. Crossing legs sometimes "chokes off" the veins that deliver blood to the muscels and tissue.

Do fix it... just do what you can to restore blood flow... A hand that's "asleep", hang it down... uncross legs... remove a wallet in a back pocket.

I hope that helps.

You're restricting/impeding blood flow to the limbs that are feeling numb and tingly. Try not to cross your legs, but if you must, make sure to periodically walk around, get the blood flowing again. When you have your legs crossed, it helps if you keep wiggling your foot, to keep the blood circulating.

And if you stay in a position for too long where blood is cut off from an area; say your leg for example; it will eventually die and then fall off in the middle of the night.

Decreased amount of blood flow into that area usually gives you pins and needles feelings. It is also when the muscles relax to the point that they are asleep

this happens when circulation is beong cut off to that are of the body- your legs are crossed ina way making it difficult for your blood to flow there, thus, it becomes numb.
