Is there a God, in Greek/Roman mythology, that is God of creation. Like creating anything. From art to inventions to children. Is there one particular God or Godess that rules the act of creating something, even love. I know about Cupid (not his real name), Venus/Aphrodite, Zeus, Artemis, Hera, Hestia and the other main Gods/Godess'. If you can't answer my question above you can still tell me your favorite. My favorite is Hermes, aka Mercury. He is the God of business and is the messanger of the Gods. He's the one with the winged shoes. Also, Cupid (that isn't necessarily his real name, it's debatable) is known as Eros. He is the son of Aphrodite, though he's not an Olympian. So I know all those. I think there's also a God of invention, what's his name?

My belief is in the God of Abraham, the Christian God. Besides having the privilege of seeing and feeling the existence of God just in nature around me, it is nice to know that God has created all and has a hand in all. Just think. With Him it isn't necessary to have many cohorts, each with a different purpose--one for love, one for nature, etc. He has created all of us and all of nature and has created in us such a wonderful brain that he allows us to be, on a different level, creators as well. And I find that truly amazing. We don't always need all of the answers, but thank God, He's given us the means to create within ourselves.

Out of Chaos, came the Dark Night- Nox( an absolutely wonderful Goddess) from there came Light-Aether and Day-Hemera and from them came Love- Eros and from there came Gaia-earth, Pontus-sea, and Uranus-sky. From them Came the Titan, Furies, and many other Immortal Creatures. From them came the Olympians, then man. Then the mixture of the two. And so on. So to answer you question, Chaos would would be your Deity that you are looking for, but Read Bulfinches Mythology. That will give you the best info. Also Cupid is the Roman Name for Eros. Don't confuse the Greeks from the Romans, as they are seperate entities, just as Venus and Aphrodite are seperate entities, they are not the SAME!

If you are asking about a god of creation in the greek/roman pantheon, then the answer is no... not really. Zeus is the most powerful, but not the "creator." However, later on, Plato began to talk about "the Good" as the creator. And Plotinus took that even further and called it "the One." But this god is not part of the Pantheon.

Personally, I like Aphrodite. She must be hot.

Gaia is the Creatrix Goddess. She created herself, the Earth and all of Nature.

Aphrodite is the Goddess of creative passion, the desire to create on Earth. Any obsessive passion that stirs the desire of creation, including lust. She's also a war Goddess...

Athene is the Goddess of women's handicrafts.

Apollo is a patron of musicians and poets. Leader of the Muses is one of his epithets. Hermes is credited with inventing stringed instruments and created the one Apollo plays.

Dionysus was another patron of artists, as his festival Dionysia hosted dramatic contests.

Hephaestus, Aphrodite's Husband, is the God of the forge, and volcanos, the Master Craftsman and thus of the fires of inspiration and manly crafts. He may be the God of invention you're thinking of as he forged many amazing things for the Olympians, including robot maids and, of course, awesome jewelry. Including a belt for his wife that made her irresistable to men, as if she needed help. (Brilliant, with no common sense) All the Gods cool jewelry and weapons were His doing.

The Celtic Goddess Brigid is also a creative Goddess and is the keeper of the fires of inspiration and creation, a forge Goddess and patron of poets as well as healers.

My favorites are Eos and Aphrodite.

there are several gods of invention, in Ireland Lug the Light was a fine inventor, in Rome Vulcan (Hephaestus in Greece) was the artificer of the gods, The Germanic Tribes had Wayland, and the Norse actually had a race of inventors, the dwarves.

As far as creation goes the is no one that is solely responsible for creation except maybe a Hindu god/goddess, but I am not as familiar with them. Oh and there is always the Native American god Wotan-Tonka

Yes but the gods and goddess' of mythology are aspects of the all creator.

The god of invention would be hephestus the smith and husband of aphrodite. Hermes is good as he also is a healer but he is also the god of theives.

For me my patron goddess is Artemis.

My guess is Uranus or Gaia would be seen as such. But they didn't really create anything but other roman gods. They just are the first ones.

Speaking of them as a god should also be listed with a small g not a capital G. god of invention would probably be Vulcan.
