i have an old sony amp that i found in a shed and im trying to fix it.
i plugged it in to find out initially what worked and have found that the inputs work, but theres no left output.
what are some simple checks i can do?
sony model number hst-d301cd

edit: its not the main output where you plug the speakers in.

both earphones work.

i'm cheap/poor is there anything i could fix by prodding it with a screwdriver?
(anything free?)

MAKE SURE IT'S UNPLUGGED.. and remove the cover... blow out as much dust as you can from inside... also,. check the speaker connections..* by wiggling the wire in and out.. also. has it a headphone socket.?. if that works ok (both ears..) then you need to take it to a Repair shop... if only one (channel) works, then it is one of your OUTPUT IC chips gone.. and that again is a Repair shop job.. if you can still get the chips..

*try spraying a small amount of electrical cleaner into the associated connections.... maplins do a good one.. and a dust blower... good luck
