The "worst thing" I ever lost was excess weight. People are answering this question incorrectly. Worst refers to the item lost not how you felt about it. People are naming positive things like family members as the "worst thing" lost. Much like the slogan "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." A mind is not a "terrible thing" (typically). What they meant to say that is it's terrible to waste a mind. People are answering your question as if it asks "What have you lost that made you feel the worst?" The other answers would then work.

Self Respect for awhile, got addicted to prescription drugs(zanax). Was horrible but true was addicted and didn't realize it until my family began to. I lost so many very precious things in my life but Self Respect means more than anything. The sad thing is this was prescription drugs. By the way I'm a Mother of two and a Grandmother of two. Anyone out there NEVER allow any doctor to talk you into begin taking medicine to help you get through horrible things in life. It almost destroyed my life!!!!!!!!

The worst thing or person I ever lost in my whole life was my first and only true love. He was killed at age 22 a year after he came back from Viet Nam.

A back-stabbing friend! You don't feel bad or worst if you lose something bad, Do you see where your question makes a left turn? The BEST thing I ever lost was my parents respect. But I earned it back. Thank God parents have short memories!

This question is twisted. If the item was worst and you lost it why would you care? If it was reworded to ask what was the best thing you ever lost? My grandfather and dad would be my answer.

When my son was three we went to see a movie. The theatre was empty so I wasn't as nervous about him straying a couple feet away. I swear I turned my head for a second and he was gone. The theatre is quite large (18 movie theatres) so I immediately alarmed the staff who set in to motion finding my son. I tell you those five minutes until he was found were the worst in my life. I have kicked myself a million times since over that one. Luckily my son was found squatted down behind the door of one of the theatres. When found he told the staff member that he knew that he was lost and he knew to stay put until somone came to find him. So it was a good lesson to both of us.

Lost, at one point in my life was a time when I openly drank to cope with my life. I am an alcoholic and proud to be of such.
since then and the realization of the mega consequences we ahve to pay, I remain clean/sober to help the brother next to me who is, where I once was, lost, confused, and at a total loss for any kind of positive action to occur in their lives.
