you can.....when you break away from your destiny, thats what is reffered to as the ultimate liberation......more famously known as nirvana.....
for that you need to give up all your desires....desires is what drives you.....
meditation is one way of doin it......gaining control over your desires and thoughts....
very few spiritual gurus have actually been able to do it......
but the point is......it is very possible....
a very good question indeed......though i havent really answered it yet.....
the real question is.....why do we have so much desires?????
we just act upon it......n if you really think ab it....we dont create those desires.... we "have" them!!!!!!!
if we dont have desires....there wont be a reason for existence...
now you may ask then what is nirvana! well.....to get there you have to go through desires.....
its a full circle.....yin and yang.....
the opposites....the balance....the symbol of yin yang really throws a lot of light on your question....
yin yang is a symbol of a snake eating its own tail....traditionally been expressed in a lot of cultures and traditions....
its a sign of transcendence......from the physical realm to the spiritual realm....
it pretty much describes our existence as a human....
the purpose of transcendence? realisation and awareness of the cosmic spirit.....

Well, we do need some practice to control ourself.
It is somekind of skill we could learn by positive thinking.
Just enjoy everything we encounter and get a laugh at it.
Keep smiling!

We can but it takes practice and discipline. We can discipline ourselves physically by exercising and ensuring our diet is optimal. We can control our emotions instead of allowing them to control us. It's mind over matter. Make a decision and stick with it.

No clue. And the little voices in my head are getting worked up too. So I guess it's the inner turmoil in oneself that renders them "out of control". Oh yeah, and bad decisions.

Because your Self controls *you*:
"Behind thy thoughts and feelings, my brother, there is a mighty lord, an unknown sage - it is called Self; it dwelleth in thy body, it is thy body.
There is more sagacity in thy body than in thy best wisdom. And who then knoweth why thy body requireth just thy best wisdom?
Thy Self laugheth at thine ego, and its proud prancings. "What are these prancings and flights of thought unto me?" it saith to itself. "A by-way to my purpose. I am the leading-string of the ego, and the prompter of its notions.""
[Nietzsche, Thus Spake Zarathustra, Of the Despisers of the Body.]
