He is great.
Not only is he really funny and great family man he also rolls around with giant crocs as if it were a tiny little animal that couldn't eat you.
How many of us would do that?

Some people love his crazy-antics and some people think he's just plain crazy and over-the-top. No matter what you think of him, he is educating the public about reptiles and not to discriminate against him. He does seem very wacko, but it's a show. He's an actor and he plays a role when he is on screen. In person, he's not the psycho and knows a lot about reptiles and other animals. He has done a lot to further reptile research and belongs to different professional organizations.
Many herpetologists don't approve his methods and many see value in it. No matter what camp you are in, he brings attention to reptiles - that is what I like. I want people to appreicate reptiles and not think they are gross or be terrified of them.
As for the clip where he was endangering his baby while feeding a croc; well, that was sensational TV and it looked dangerous depending on the angle. There were two other TV crews there and their angle did not show Steve Irwin nearly as close the angle that was broadcast. His just appeared to be closer.
Thumbs up from this reptile keeper.

i like him a lot. he is maybe too over the top at times (therefore the crocodile hunter in particular is definitely not my favorite steve irvings thing, to be honest), but if it helps to get the conservation message across, the better for all of us. i think he has a great occupation, great family and a purpose of his life

Yes! And I might add, that was a bunch of bull the way the media overreacted when he fed that croc while holding his child. Do you really think he would have done that if he felt his child was in any danger. I think not!
