why would they need to call it like that ....is it because of all the stereotypes that str8 men can dress and gay men do? and i'm saying this from a gay guys point of view.....are they actually so scared of being considered gay that they came up with a word reflecting str8 men who know how to dress, does this have anything to do with sexuality?
your opinions pls :)

The word was actually created by a gay man: Mark Simpson, a British journalist and author, in 1994, about the same time his book "Male Impersonators: Men Performing Masculinity" came out.

It has to do with a little narcissism and consumerism, or, as Simpson put it:
The promotion of metrosexuality was left to the men's style press, magazines such as The Face, GQ, Esquire, Arena and FHM, the new media which took off in the Eighties and is still growing (GQ gains 10,000 new readers every month). They filled their magazines with images of narcissistic young men sporting fashionable clothes and accessories. And they persuaded other young men to study them with a mixture of envy and desire.

Some people said unkind things. American GQ, for example, was popularly dubbed ''Gay Quarterly''. Little wonder that all these magazines — with the possible exception of The Face — address their metrosexual readership as if none of them were homosexual or even bisexual.
—Mark Simpson, "Here come the mirror men," The Independent, November 15, 1994

He has his own problems with how the word has been used and abused. I've linked his website.

Metrosexual is a neologism of the 2000s many times utilized to heterosexual adult adult males with a good project for their visual appeal, and/or whose existence demonstrate attributes stereotypically attributed to gay adult adult males. The term is heavily concerning dandy. Debate surrounds the term's use as a theoretical signifier of gender deconstruction and its institutions with consumerism. uncertain why your writing approximately that.. yet good success!

its funny that society stresses that gay people are bad but they find it okay too exclude parts of us (fashion sense) so that they are use (look as good as we do)
they are affraid to be associated with anything gay so they came up with the word "metrosexuality". if you asked me, i think the name "homosexuality" would be more fitting! then it'd be another victory for the gay community.
but oh well, who is listening to a tiny asian girl anyway!
