Tube (Underground) Piccadilly Line from Heathrow . Change to Euston Station. Change to Main Line Station Euston to Manchester - time from Euston 2 hrs 15 mins - Trains run frequently, many half hourly departures. If you have problems with the tube, modify your question and I will look up the connections. For fares etc for the main line look up British Rail for timetables, prices etc. Good luck.
OK, Bodyguard, no problem:At Heathrow, any terminal, go to the London Underground - it's no real problem getting there, there are mobile walkways. The Piccadilly Line is the only tube leaving there. Get ticket to Euston Station. The journey will take you about fifty minutes to LEICESTER SQUARE. Disembark and follow signs to NORTHERN LINE (NORTHBOUND). This will be three stations to EUSTON. (NOT EUSTON SQUARE). Disembark at EUSTON and follow the signs for MAIN LINE STATION - short walk with escalators. In the main hall you will see the Departure Board. To the Left is the Booking Hall.
At the Station beware of Drunks and Druggies (no real danger but they will steal anything that is not nailed down). Have a good trip. If you Google 'London Underground' you will be able to download the Underground Map - Heathrow is Lower far left.
Have a good trip...............

just like the guy above said and once you get to manchester picadilly you are right beside the university. The uni buildings are next door to the station but if you have bags its best to get a taxi. The taxi rank is down the escalator from the main concourse. Have the exact address for your final destination and it should only be £2-£3.
Otherwise look up your postcode for the uni on maps.google.co.uk and it can give you directions from the station
