k i got these strings, somebody bought them for me, and i got a strat and the strings are gibson flat wound... will they fit?

They will fit, but I doubt you will be very happy with the feel or tone it produces. Flat wound strings are generally used for jazz, and are more common on semi-hollowbody guitars. The gauge will probably work out for you, and there is absolutely no reason not to try it. Who knows, maybe you will prefer the flat-wounds. The most common guage for Strats is "light", meaning the strings vary from .10 to .46 in size, but you can string it with just about any gauge. Try many different manufacturers and types to strings to find the ones you like. There isn't much you can do to damage a Strat.

Yes. (Actually I also have a Fender Stratocaster but its been collecting dust in its case for years.) I think the best guitar strings are light gauge at the high end and heavy gauge on the E and A strings. I think they are called light gauge with heavy bottoms or something like that. I think the high E is .008. I forget what the low E is. I think Ernie Ball makes them. But that was years ago. (I haven't played guitar in a while.)
