My daughter's betta just died and she wants to bury him. I was wondering how far down I should dig so that animals won't be able to dig him up.

When I bury small fish I usually try to make it around a foot. I dont think an animal will try to dig that far for something so small. I just buried one a few weeks ago and I put mine in a ziplock baggie and put it in one of those baby wipe containers, just to make sure no buggies got to it.

Typically the graves are 6 feet, the casket and vault together are approximately 3 feet, so there is 3 feet of dirt on the vault, not 6 like someone else said. Also, there hasn't been any graverobbing for a good number of years. When they stack them, they usually dig down 10 feet. The vaults are either double-depth (designed to hold 2 caskets) or the vaults are stacked directly on topof each other. Hope this helps!

dig far down enough, when youre done burying it, sprinkle some black pepper over the "grave" other animal (dogs, cat) wont dig there because the pepper stings their noses

put it in a bottle of some sort and bury it a foot deep that will keep the smell from attracting animals

10 feet 6 inches.... or just go with 3 inches, they shouldnt really dig it up, and if its a dog or a cat they will carry it off and eat it quick like anyways
