What is the reason that leaves turn to face the rain?

They turn up to catch the rain drops. This is a way they get the water they need to grow. Bob

Just before a rain there often is an updraft, and this causes the leaves to lift up.

They turn upside down because they "breath" from the top of the leave and if they don't turn over it "suffocates" them.
