Whats the error message you are getting ?

Check whether antivirus or firewall installed on your pc is not blocking messenger.

if you do not know your proxy setting you can use the no proxy setting, it may help, or unistalling and re-stalling could help the messenger it could have installed with errors

YOU CAN TAKE YOUR PROXY SITTINGS FROM YOUR CONNECTION DOUBLE CLICK ON IT THEN CLICK SUPORT
SO YOU CAN TAKE THE NOMBERS AND PUT IT IN YOUR MESSANGER BY OPEN OPTIONS THEN CONNECTIONS YOU WILL HAVE TO FILL ONE OF THOSE SERVER SITTINGS
