Norton is complicated and you have to have your settings right, or it will complicate your system, and net functions. I've found charter high speed security suite to be reliable, it's made by the same company the produced F-prot which is a good program to look into. Panda has been suggested by several companies here, but a lot of them have switched to charter as well. As for freebies, try avast, or kapersky.
Microsoft is now offering windows defender and a stand alone malicious software destroyer. You should check those out!

Hi:

I recommend AVG free antivirus. It works well for me. It daily connects to their server and updates with the latest antivirus patterns. I never worried about to open the unknown types of files I download from net containing malware, spyware, and viruses, as they are scanned while installing and immediately it prompts with a window to heal or delete options.

There is an option, "Virus Vault" where you can move the virus affected files and still run them from there without affecting the other files and you can delete them when you are no longer going to use it.

Though it has some limitations of complete scanning, no technical support, etc., it is free and works excellent.

Please read the features list here >> http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Get it for Windows here >> http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg71free_394a763.exe

I think the info is helpful.

I have heard Norton Corporate edition is the best. But it comes at a hefty price.

AVG is free, and is the best free antivirus. You can also get AVG 5 pack for corporate for reasonable prices.

Norton is crap. It's slow and it does stuff on its own without your authorization. If you want a good anti-virus, go with NOD32. It's the best you'll find. Just take a look at all the awards they've won over the years.

i used norton once, i tryed zone alarm, it's pretty good it intereacts with norton well, you can use zone alarm on a free trial to check it out, it has many details to set up,if you block all cookies with it though you can't get into your yahoo mail box, yahoo uses cookies with it, but norton, mc afee or zone alarm are the ones i liked the most
