MizBehavin has a point! The Rolling Stones was in that era and their music was far better!

I can understand how a youngster would feel, but if you were my age, 13 at the time, and all you heard was Elvis and Chuck Berry, who were great, but pretty much done in their careers, and then suddenly, January of 64, watching Ed Sulivan, because your parents made you watch it, and the BEATTLES came on, well, I can't explain the excitement. They took Rock & Roll about 100 steps beyond what it was at that time, and opened the avenue for other greats, like the Stones, Eric Clapton, Hendricks, Joplin, just to name a few. The Beattles were AWESOME.

The Beatles didn't "suck", but they weren't as good as the hype made them out to be.

When it comes to the British invasion, most people ask, "Are you a Stones or Beatles fan?" As if those were the only two choices 9_9 Name the Beatle's first single. Now, name the Rolling Stones' first single. Few people can.

Now name the Who's first single: "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere". It was a great song then and still works today. The Who had better songs, better movies (not that it's too important), and better live performance. If one band stood apart from the others in the British invasion, it was The Who.

If you were a musician you'd understand why many people like them, McCartney, Lennon and even Harrison wrote some very musically complex songs as far as chord structure at the time. and every band is overrated in some way or another, but no one can deny the beatles importance to rock. for example green day never plays anymore than your simple triad chords if that at all, so many look to the beatles for musical satisfaction because they yawn at what is happening musically these days.

I was never a Beatles fan. Ever! But...... Let's give credit where credit is due. Although, I find alot of their material to be overly simple and dreadfully boring - they were pioneers in their various methods of writing, recording and production.
The Beatles were more than just the sum of their parts. They were responsible for ushering in a whole new direction in what was fastly becoming a tired and stale industry.
In the annals of "Rock" history, there are a handful of artists who were responsible for revolutionizing the way things were perceived and accomplished.
The Beatles were one of them.

AND....

Just because a certain type of music doesn't particularly appeal to you, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have some redeeming qualities.
It's called objectivity. Try it sometime. You just might learn something.

Ummm...how old are you anyway? Sure, by today's standards they're probably not all that great, but were you even alive in 1964? Have you heard any of the other music from that specific time period? You obviously know nothing about the marketing of the band, let alone the progression of their development, their effect on the music business or what any of their specific talents are.

So you know what? Nobody cares about your ignorant opinion!

They are definitely overrated. I always loved the Rolling Stones instead of the Beatles.

I DON'T .

they were praised so much not just because of the music, rather because they were the first to write that kind of music, others were more or less copycats of them.
